INTRODUCTION

Our in-species currency, known as Shells, can be used to be traded in for in-specie upgrade items, use them to purchase Bayfox sales who accept the currency, commission others, and more!

How to Obtain Basics and Requirements

  1. ONLY the artist of their OWN work will receive the seashell reward.

  2. Creating any work containing Bayfoxes, will give you seashells! Drawing them as quads, anthros, or Baysunes are all redeemable for shells. Non-Bay forms cannot be redeemed.

  3. Drawing anything such as personal art, commissions, art trades, and gifts can all earn you seashells!

  4. Artwork must be neat and colored to be accepted. Plain line art, messy coloring, sketchy lines, or lack of effort will be rejected.

  5. ART MUST BE YOUR OWN AND UNIQUE. Tracing of your own or others work, or use of bases will be rejected and can face consequences. Each piece should be made uniquely from scratch.

  6. If a collab was done, you can split shell rates evenly or unevenly, but both parties must consent to the division proposed. Please specify the collab partner and what ratio you both would like to split the shell rewards when redeeming. You cannot earn both the final total and a split of the final total.

  7. Artwork of official Baykits is counted at 50% of normal shell rates. Note, unofficial Baykit concepts of approved adult Bays are not redeemable.

  8. Disclaimer: This is all still a beta system so things may be subject to change!
Reward rates may vary based on the effort seen put into the art. If you feel like a mod's correction was improper, you may contact the mod and respectfully discuss the situation.
Mods retain the right to decline extra shell requests.
Escalating the discussion into harassment can lead to suspensions on your bank and access to the site.

Shell Usage Rules

  1. You are allowed to commission others or open commissions for Shells and Items.
  2. You can exchange Shells for Bay and non-Bay related artwork and content.
  3. You CANNOT exchange Shells and Items for ANY KIND of real world currency or virtual currency with monetary value. This includes other species' or game site currencies that allow exchanging for real world currency.

What Cannot be Redeemed for Shells

  1. MYO/REDESIGN/ADOPT APPROVAL ART. If you make an adopt, custom, redesign, or a MYO (also includes Baykits,) you cannot turn that specfic artwork in for shells.
This is because this could be exploited into shell earning loopholes.
  2. MULTIPLE WIPS. You cannot submit multiple WIPs of the same image for shells multiple times. Only one final product can be submitted.
  3. YCHS. Exception: If making a YCH, only one single version of the artwork can count. Any created after that are not redeemable. This YCH must be made by yourself and cannot be a pre-existing base.
  4. BASES. Art done on a base, either made by yourself or another artist, cannot be redeemed. Recoloring 3D models or modifying existing blank art (eg, painting a pre-built birdhouse) are not accepted.
Exception: Plushie Templates or similar templates, as creating the fabric patterns to match your characters does not rely on modifying the paper cutouts itself.
  5. UNOFFICIAL BAYFOXES. Unapproved Bayfoxes (both concepts and redesigns), non-Bayfoxes (including non-Bay forms), and unofficial Baykit concepts cannot be redeemed.

Where to Redeem Shells

  1. Your bank account will automatically be created when you join the site!

  2. You are to grade your own art for shells! The rewards you calculate are based on given rates below. Please do not make up and add nonexistent rates.

SHELL RATES

All art must be colored and neat to be accepted!

Base 2D Artwork

The MINIMUM VALUE to apply to a two-dimensional artwork depicting a Bayfox.

Grayscale Color

Grayscale is accepted, but it must be neatly colored.

Flatcolor Color

  • 100: Headshot - Only the head of the Bayfox, and maybe neck, is visible.

  • 20: Mini Artwork - Art that is small or simplified and lacking the details that a normal fullbody or headshot may contain. The lineless value does not apply to minis. When creating "grind sheets" poses must be somewhat unique! Please also note that companion rewards may not be redeemed with minis.
  • 150: Halfbody - Anywhere from the Bayfox’s head and chest to a bit of the hindlegs is visible.

Writing

Per story.

  • For every 100 words, you will earn 25 seashells.
  • Companion Bonuses are not applicable to writing.

Calculating TOTALS

There are different rates for each part of your drawing that add to the total shells you'll earn!

WHAT ARE "BASE," "STACKABLE," AND "STATIC" REWARDS?

There are 3 basic categories of how different aspects are calculated.

  • "Base" rewards are usually the minimum of an art piece, and shows up in everyone's submitted work.
    • For example, if you draw two flatcolor fullbody Bayfoxes in the same drawing, you would multiply the base flatcolor fullbody by two, so 50x2=100 !
  • "Stackable" rewards are rewards that are dependent on the number of Bayfoxes it is applied to.
    • For example, shading is considered a stackable reward because it applies to each visible Bayfox that is shaded.
      • Example: If I drew two flatcolor fullbody Bayfoxes, and only did basic shading one of them, I would get the base reward, 100 shells, plus the shading bonus for the one I shaded, 20, giving me a total of 120 shells.
If I had shaded both Bayfoxes with basic shading, I would get 40 shells in addition to the base 100, giving me a total of 140 shells.
  • "Static" rewards are rewards that are dependent on the art piece by itself and disregards the number of Bayfoxes within the artwork.
    • Backgrounds are considered a static reward. Backgrounds can only be added once per artwork, and it covers all the characters already featured in it.
      • Example: If I added a simple background to my drawing of two flatcolored fullbody Bayfoxes, I can only get 20 extra shells in total for it. Even though there are two Bayfoxes featured, the extra Bayfox does not multiply the background reward by two.

WRITING OUT YOUR CALCULATIONS:

When submitting your work in for shells, you are required to show the art criterias your work features and falls into as well as your math.

Let's use this drawing here as an example to go off of:

  1. First, let's identify the bases.
    • This is a 2D art piece, so I go down to the base 2D artwork category.
    • The Bayfoxes are flatcolored, so I go down to the Flatcolor category.
    • The Bayfoxes are depicted as fullbodies, so I go down to the Fullbody classification under the Flatcolor category.
    • There are two Bayfoxes visible, so I can multiply the base value by 2.
  2. Then, identify the stack values.
    • Line Art: the line art is not fully colored nor is the piece lineless, so it doesn't count for the Colored Lines nor Lineless bonus.
    • Shading: the depicted Bayfoxes are not shaded, so it doesn't count for any kind of shading bonuses.
    • Animations: the depicted artwork isn't animated, so it doesn't count for any kind of animation bonuses.
  3. Finally, identify the static values.
    • Backgrounds: This artwork does indeed have a background! This background contains a couple detailed objects in the background and isn't shaded. This background is a Depth Background.
  4. Now that you have all aspects of your art identified, it's time to write out your calculations!
    • One flatcolored fullbody is 50 shells, and I have two depicted Bayfoxes. Therefore I get 100 shells for the base category.
    • This art doesn't have any stackable bonuses, so I can skip this category.
    • This art has a depth background, so I can add on a flat of 50 shells.
      • Writing it out:
        Flatcolor Fullbody x2: 100
        Depth Background: 50
        Total: 150 Shells

CALCULATING COMPANION BONUSES:

There are three main types of companion bonus variations. The bonuses a pet has can be found listed on the Companion's catalog page!

You must list out the applicable Companions you are redeeming bonuses for or they may not be accounted for!

  • Flat Bonus
    • You may apply this type of reward by yourself to your art submission!
    • This bonus reward is a "flat rate," meaning it only gives you a set amount of Seashells each time.
  • Percentage Bonus
    • You may apply this type of reward by yourself to your art submission!
    • This bonus reward is technically considered a "flat rate," however requires a bit of math! You calculate this bonus by multiplying the total shells* you get from the art alone by the rate the Companion rewards.
      • *You do not factor in miscellaneous bonuses like a Monthly Prompt bonus or what other Companions give you into the total you multiply by.
      • Example: Art total is 100 shells. The Companion percentage bonus is 5%. So I multiple 100x0.05=5 bonus shells!
  • RNG
    • ONLY mods can apply this type of reward to your art submissions!
    • The prize you get is random from the prize pool available.

HOW-TO SITE TIPS:

MOD TIP JAR

  • When submitting pieces, mods approving your submission can grant you a tip up to x2 the original total of your art piece! Example: Your submission calculates to 1000 shells. A mod can tip an extra 1000!
  • You may ask for tips! Feel free to ask for a tip and describe why you believe you deserve one! Please don't beg or attempt to guilt-trip any mods into tipping your work or consequences could follow.
